About the Programme

The FemAnalytica Data Science Internship Programme is a paid, structured three-month placement initiative that connects emerging data science talent in Malawi with organisations that have real-world data projects to offer. It is open to postgraduate students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals — with a particular focus on women and underrepresented groups.

FemAnalytica funds and pays the intern stipend directly. Host organisations are responsible for providing a defined project, dedicated supervision, and an environment that actively supports the intern's learning and professional development. Together, we are building Malawi's next generation of data scientists.

What FemAnalytica provides to interns

Beyond placing interns with your organisation, FemAnalytica supports every intern throughout the programme — giving host organisations confidence that interns arrive prepared and remain supported.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from any Malawi-based organisation — across sectors — that has a meaningful data project ready to offer an intern. You do not need to describe your work as "data science" to apply. If your organisation works with data to solve problems, generate evidence, or improve services, we want to hear from you.

01

You are based in Malawi

Host organisations must be formally constituted and operating in Malawi.

02

You have a real-world data project

The project must involve working with real data — health records, survey data, administrative data, agricultural data, or similar.

03

Your project touches AI, data science, or governance

This includes analysis, modelling, visualisation, data quality work, responsible data use, or ethical AI — broadly interpreted.

04

You can commit a supervisor

A named supervisor with relevant expertise must be available for the full three-month placement.

05

You are committed to capacity building

Host organisations must actively invest in the intern's learning — not just their output.

06

Your data governance is in order

Appropriate ethical and data governance arrangements must be in place or actively being pursued.
